As we prepare to go I am reminded of the point of it all.
Not everyone is called to go
Not everyone is called to go to Africa
Not everyone is called to work with orphans
Not everyone is called to go now
But we are
We must go.
For me it is clear
Our Father is not chaotical
He has a plan
It is not random
It is all good and for His purpose
He would not have placed a a burning desire to do everything everywhere all the time. We would never get any of His work done. We would simply fall to our knees in a heaping mess.
The last commandment in Matthew
It is told to us in no uncertain terms was:
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
4513 πορεύομαι (poreuomai), πορεύω (poreuō): vb.; ≡ DBLHebr 2143; Str 4198; TDNT 6.566--1. LN 15.10 go, move from one place to another
Active word... Not think about it. Not pray about it. Not to write about it.
But go. A physical motion of movement
Going maybe to the man or lady five steps away or 4000 miles away
3411 μαθητεύω (mathēteuō): vb.; ≡ Str 3100; TDNT 4.461--1. LN 36.31 follow, be a disciple, be a committed student (Mt 27:57; Ac 14:21+); 2. LN 36.37 make followers, make disciples (Mt 28:19+); 3. cf. LN 33.224–33.250 instruct, teach (Mt 13:52+)
Make- to do for a purpose that has an end result. When you make something you combine multiple things together for a finished product
Disciples - at the end of it you have laid a foundation for that person to have a fire and understanding to burn for Jesus. It is not a one time one five minute conversation. It is not a quick film and drop a few bibles. It is about developing a relationship that shows and reflects Jesus teachings. To be a committed student. To take that film and Bible and commit yourself to the teachings therein and give yourself to our Father.
Of all nations
1620 ἔθνος (ethnos), ους (ous), τό (to): n.neu.; ≡ DBLHebr 1580, 6639; Str 1484; TDNT 2.364--1. LN 11.55 nation, a people, a large group based on various cultural, physical or geographic ties,
This commandment predates political boundaries. Jesus did not care about political maps. He burned for every person in every tongue to hear our Fathers word, To go beyond how we as people define a nation to how he defines a nation.
So when we began this process it very quickly unraveled out of our control
But how can we say no.
Do I attached conditions on to the sending?
Do I ask him to qualify and write out a written plan?
Do I ask Him to tell me how the story ends so I can feel comfortable with it all?
I really am falling passionately in love with the journey.
I love how my Father can completely rip my world apart and put it back do much better then I ever could imagine.
I am so blessed that He writes the story......I could not ever come up with this.
He said to Go , so I go.
Knowing that at the other side is such a blessing of redemption and mercy that the human flesh can attempt to wrap its logic, but will fall short in the mere amazement of His glory and righteousness
It is in that journey that our Father pulls us closer to Him
It is in that journey that our Father demonstrates His love for us
It is in the reaching of the end that I am able to see the always occurring
Ah -Ha moment of Now I get it
So we go
We travel for His purpose and we wait for the ending
The super cool ending that can never be imagined
A mere sentence in His great story
I sentence that is commanded to be written
The sentence that began with...Go
